To-do list status indicators

It would be wonderful to be able to mark to-do items with statuses (without having to type them in). When you have a ton of lists going at once, it's very difficult to know at a glance if something needs attention, is a top priority, needs more details, is pending approval, is in production, or is on hold. As it currently stands within Basecamp, an item is either complete or it's not.

Right now, we have been indicating all of these things by typing the status of a to-do list item in parentheses in the title. While effective, it's a bit tedious. Just as you can tag projects or files with keywords, what if you could do the same with list items? Or else with a dropdown menu? Then you could sort out lists/items that are top priority within a project, or that are pending approval.

Would really love to see something like this come into play. As a Project Manager, I love lists... the more organized the list, the better! Right now, though, it's a bit of a struggle to know the status of all of the pieces and parts floating around in our Basecamp projects.
